Job summary

The University of Southern California seeks an accomplished advancement leader to serve as Chief Development Officer (CDO) for the USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; eight years in university advancement is expected.
• Demonstrated success securing major gifts and meeting fundraising goals.
• Experience leading planning and development efforts and managing teams.
• Strong communication, networking and relationship-management skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in academic/higher education development and understanding of university research units.
• Familiarity with donor/development management systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, implementation, and execution of comprehensive fundraising strategies.
• Secure major, principal, and transformational gifts from diverse philanthropic partners.
• Collaborate with Dean and university leaders to identify funding priorities and opportunities.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors while expanding the donor pipeline.
• Represent the Mann School to donors, alumni, foundations, corporations, volunteers and stakeholders.
• Translate scientific research into compelling philanthropic cases for investment.
• Direct donor visits, engagement opportunities, and fundraising events.
• Coordinate with partners to develop communications and stewardship materials.
