Job summary

The Atlantic seeks a Vice President of Data to define and drive data strategy that powers insight and decision making across the organization. You will mentor a team of analysts, partner with Editorial, Consumer Growth, and Advertising, and shape metrics and tools that fuel growth.

You will guide data governance, self‑service analytics, and scalable infrastructure while collaborating with senior leaders to transform insights into strategic actions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in data, analytics, or related fields.
• 5+ years managing and developing data teams.
• Experience partnering with executive leadership to shape organizational strategy.

Responsibilities

• Establish The Atlantic as the model for how modern media companies harness data to drive strategy, deepen audience relationships, and create new forms of journalism.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing data team, including embedded analysts across the organization.
• Recruit, develop, and empower analytical talent at all levels.
• Play a pivotal role in defining company strategy, ensuring data informs roadmaps that drive business growth.
• Champion and refine The Atlantic's decentralized/self‑service data model, empowering stakeholders to access and interpret data independently.
• Define, develop, and maintain key organizational metrics in partnership with executive leadership.
• Serve as the executive 'voice of data,' translating complex insights into actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
• Represent The Atlantic at industry conferences and in conversations with relevant third parties.
