Job summary

Heritage Bank seeks a Chief Credit Officer to lead credit risk strategy, policy, and portfolio oversight. You will guide a talented team, shape credit practices, and ensure quality while driving growth.

This role requires extensive credit risk leadership and regulatory acumen in a dynamic banking environment. You will manage credit risk, develop strategies to strengthen operations, and collaborate with executives to align credit objectives with bank goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in credit risk management, with senior leadership experience.
• Deep knowledge of credit policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to decide under pressure.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement credit policies, procedures, and guidelines to manage credit risk.
• Oversee the credit approval process ensuring loans and lines meet standards and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and manage the credit portfolio balancing risk and reward.
• Conduct regular credit reviews and stress tests to identify risks and mitigation.
• Oversee workout, liquidation and reporting of problem loans.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of credit professionals.
• Collaborate with the Executive Team on strategic plans related to credit strategy.
• Seek ways to use technology and streamline processes for efficiency and service.
