Job summary

Moody's is seeking a Chief Counsel, IP, Trust & Cyber in San Francisco to lead global teams across IP, privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance. You will shape risk and licensing strategy while enabling responsible AI deployment.

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will drive enterprise IP strategy, manage external counsel, and partner with product, risk, and procurement to protect Moody's data and technology assets.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and bar membership in good standing.
• 15+ years of relevant combined experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house counsel.
• Deep expertise in IP strategy and portfolio management, including patent, copyright, and data rights.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide intellectual property strategy across patents, trademarks, copyrights, database rights, and trade secrets.
• Advise on governance, protection, and exploitation of proprietary data assets and AI-related IP rights.
• Oversee IP portfolio management, licensing, and cross-licensing arrangements.
• Lead defense of third-party IP claims with in-house resources and external counsel.
• Advise on IP aspects of product development, licensing structures, and strategic transactions.
• Serve as senior legal advisor on privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity laws across jurisdictions.
