Job summary

Boston Legacy FC seeks a Vice President of Community & Development to lead community engagement and to build the development function funding grassroots programs in Boston and Brockton. You will set strategy, cultivate donors and partners, and serve as Deputy Director of the BLFC Foundation, coordinating with civic leaders and boards.

The role requires senior leadership experience, deep local ties, and a start-up mindset to scale programs while meeting fundraising goals and ensuring impact

Qualifications

• 10+ years in community engagement, public affairs, nonprofit development at senior level.
• Deep ties to civic, philanthropic networks in Boston and Brockton.
• Proven track record building programs from the ground up.
• Experience soliciting and closing gifts from donors, foundations.
• Board/civic leadership experience.
• Strong relationship, public speaking, and negotiation skills.
• Builder mindset with executive strategy and hands-on delivery.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Set and own multi-year community engagement strategy for Boston and Brockton.
• Lead partnerships with mayors, city councils, legislators, and civic institutions.
• Represent the Club on boards and civic coalitions in both cities.
• Design and direct flagship community and philanthropic programs and activate them through a network of partners.
• Negotiate and structure formal partnerships with schools, municipal government, youth soccer federations, and nonprofits.
• Establish two-way dialogue with residents and community leaders and adapt approach as needed.
• Set the DEI framework guiding engagement across diverse neighborhoods.
• Build and lead the Club’s development function and fundraising efforts.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors and corporate partners.
• Manage grants pipeline and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
• Serve as Deputy Director of the BLFC Foundation and align Foundation activities with strategy.
