Job summary

The City of Perry is seeking a Chief Building Official to lead the Building Codes Division, administer and enforce codes governing construction, use, and occupancy, and oversee inspections of all structures.

Under the Community Development Director, you will collaborate with developers, contractors, and public staff to support safe, sustainable growth, adaptive reuse, and high-quality development while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in building code administration, permitting, plan review, and inspections.
• Strong communication, public engagement and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer and enforce City of Perry and State of Georgia codes governing construction, use and occupancy of buildings and structures.
• Direct the Building Codes Division within the Department of Community Development and oversee inspections of residential, commercial, industrial, and other structures to ensure code compliance.
• Collaborate across departments and with community stakeholders to improve operational efficiency, support adaptive reuse and urban development projects, and ensure high standards for safety and quality development.
