Minimum Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

1. Graduation from a college with federally authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field and four (4) years of supervisory experience in building construction, or inspectional or investigative work enforcing codes and ordinances relating to the safety of building structures and occupancy, three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
2. Graduation from a standard senior high school, vocational school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and eight (8) years of experience as described in (a) above, three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Note: Experience will be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Special Requirements

Candidates must complete a civil service application for submission to and review by the Suffolk County Department of Human Resources, Personnel and Civil Service.
