Job summary

Nebraska Public Media seeks a Director of Broadcast Engineering & Technology to lead the statewide broadcast, production, and distribution technologies for TV and FM radio. The role blends traditional broadcast engineering with IT-centric workflows and emerging tech, shaping long-term strategy and operations.

The successful candidate will mentor technical leaders, drive performance, and ensure reliable, secure technology platforms across nine-station networks and digital media groups in Lincoln.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in broadcast engineering, IT, computer science, or related field with five years’ experience in broadcast engineering or technology origination.
• Experience supervising or leading teams or functional supervision.
• Strong knowledge of IP-based media standards (SMPTE ST-2110, PTP timing, AES67).
• Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and translate into strategic recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for broadcast, production, and distribution technologies across statewide platforms.
• Bridge traditional broadcast engineering with IT-centric workflows and emerging technologies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop technical leaders and foster a high-performing team culture.
• Oversee complex broadcast and distribution systems, assess risks, and resolve escalated issues.
