The City of Chicago Office of Inspector General is seeking a Chief AIG – Legal Counsel to oversee legal counsel for investigations and audits. This leadership role involves managing Assistant Inspectors General, ensuring compliance with legal standards, and providing strategic guidance. Under the general direction and supervision of the General Counsel, the Chief AIG – Legal Counsel is responsible for overseeing, planning, organizing, and directing OIG’s Assistant Inspector Generals. The Assistant Inspectors General are responsible for providing legal counsel on each of OIG’s investigations, audits, and public safety reviews. The Chief AIG – Legal Counsel, in turn, supervises and provides guidance and counsel to the Assistant Inspectors General as they complete their work. As such, the Chief AIG – Legal Counsel occupies a management position on OIG’s most complex and important investigations, audits, and public safety reviews.
DUTIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an ABA accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate degree and admission to the Illinois Bar (or another state bar having reciprocity with Illinois), supplemented by five years of legal experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, provided the law license requirement is met.

ANNUAL SALARY:Range: $118,128 – $166,944 (annual increases).Starting $118,128(non-negotiable).

TRAVEL AND SCHEDULE: Travel outside Chicago is not required. Standard office hours are 9:00am – 5:00pm, flexibility permitted.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:Employees must be a resident of the City of Chicago and proof of residency is required at the commencement of employment.
