The selected candidate for our Complex Litigation Associate role shall work remotely in partnership with our Senior Attorneys to support our largest and most complex general liability files. Our Associate Attorney will support motions, briefs, depositions and onsite appearances jointly with our Complex Litigation Attorney Staff throughout Illinois. Specific focus on cases will be within the northeast region of the state. The Claims Staff Legal team is highly-committed to personal growth! Responsibilities:
  1. Analyze legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients
  2. Prepare pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies with supervision
  3. Provide effective and timely communication, information, legal advice and other services to clients on legal and factual issues
  4. Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures
  5. Accountable for the prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned tasks
  6. Independently prepare and present witnesses evidence at: trials, judicial/administrative hearings, arbitrations and alternative dispute resolutions
  7. Attend CLE seminars as needed
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of legal experience is preferred; however, we will consider recent graduates that have recently passed the Illinois State Bar Exam
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school and license to practice in Illinois
  • Functional understanding of claims and litigation is preferred
  • Familiarity with the tripartite relationship is a plus!
  • Commitment to providing a high level of customer service
  • Positive minded and collaborative team-player attitude
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills
  • Strong MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Effective communicator with strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to think strategically and desire to be challenged
Additional Information:

The selected candidate shall travel within the assigned jurisdiction for court appearances and ad hoc in-office meetings. For remote positions, high-speed broadband internet service is required, with specific technical requirements outlined. The annualized base pay range is $81,840 - $122,760, based on market analysis and individual performance.
