Job summary

National Life Group in Montpelier, VT, seeks a Senior Director of Life Product Innovation & Design to translate market insights into differentiated life product opportunities. You will lead the innovation agenda, partnering with Distribution and Marketing to prioritize opportunities and guide concepts from ideation to early-stage design.

This role requires deep knowledge of the Individual Life insurance market, exceptional strategic judgment, and the ability to influence across boundaries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of related experience in life insurance/product leadership.
• Deep knowledge of the Individual Life insurance marketplace.
• Demonstrated leadership in product strategy, innovation, or product design.
• Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple business functions and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to influence, communicate with, and build relationships across senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Distribution and Marketing to define and execute the strategic vision and innovation agenda for the Life Product portfolio.
• Help define and execute the front-end of the Life Product Lifecycle, ensuring a disciplined process for identifying, evaluating, designing, and validating new product opportunities.
• Translate insights into actionable product opportunities and recommendations.
• Maintain understanding of Life Insurance marketplace, product structures, distribution practices, and regulatory considerations.
• Partner with stakeholders to drive product design and concept development, including positioning and target market definition.
• Ensure upfront design strategy is understood and carried forward to implementation.
• Serve as a senior product thought partner to distribution and field leadership.
• Collaborate with marketing to ensure market sizing and opportunity assessment for product concepts.
