We are looking for a strategic and technically grounded Chief Architect to lead the next chapter of our platform evolution.

What you will do:

As the Chief Architect, you will define and drive the architectural vision and technical roadmap across ATG’s platforms. This executive-level role requires deep system design expertise, a platform-first mindset, and the ability to partner closely with engineering, product, and business leaders. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our technology foundation scales effectively and supports the speed and quality needed to fuel ATG’s growth.

This is a highly influential role, focused on enabling long-term system sustainability while unlocking near-term developer productivity and product velocity.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities Strategic Architecture Leadership:
• Set the architectural direction across ATG’s multi-platform environment, aligning technical systems with business growth and product strategy.
• Lead architectural modernization—transitioning legacy systems to scalable, service-based, and cloud-native architectures.
• Define and maintain architecture principles, patterns, and guardrails to support high-quality, consistent, and resilient system design.

System Design & Technical Direction:
• Oversee architectural decisions across application layers, APIs, data models, and cloud infrastructure.
• Identify and resolve cross-cutting concerns including scalability, performance, cost-efficiency, and platform reliability.
• Guide build/buy decisions, component reuse, and shared service strategies to optimize technical investments.

Technical Governance & Review:
• Establish and lead architecture review processes to ensure adherence to standards and design excellence.
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to evaluate trade-offs and make scalable, maintainable technical choices.

Platform Innovation & Modernization:
• Drive technical innovation by evaluating emerging technologies (e.g., event-driven design, AI/ML integration, observability tooling) and aligning them with business needs.
• Create a roadmap for architectural evolution to support 10x growth in volume, data, and product complexity.

Coaching & Influence:
• Serve as a mentor and technical leader to senior engineers and architects across multiple domains.
• Build and foster a culture of engineering excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.

Key Requirements

Key Requirements Education:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.

Experience:
• 15+ years of experience in software engineering with at least 5 years in senior architecture leadership roles.
• Proven experience driving system architecture for large-scale SaaS or marketplace platforms.
• Direct experience managing other architects across multiple products or domains.
• Track record of successful legacy-to-modern transformations, including monolith decomposition and cloud migrations.
• Strong background in system design, distributed systems, APIs, cloud (AWS or similar), and modern web technologies.
• Deep understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and security principles at scale.

Skills:
• Expert in architectural modeling, system decomposition, and scalable platform design.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to operate at both executive and engineering team levels.
• Strong decision-making, critical thinking, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
• Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and define practical, business-aligned adoption paths.
