Job summary

CVS Health is seeking an Executive Director, AI Infrastructure & Platform Engineering to stand up and operate CVS’s on-premises AI compute platform. This greenfield initiative will span GPU clusters, bare-metal Kubernetes, OpenShift, and a RoCE v2 fabric in co-located data centers with multi-site expansion.

The role defines the operating model, hires and grows the team, and sets engineering standards to sustain long-term operations while delivering high availability, reliability, and performance

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering leadership experience owning physical infrastructure at data center scale
• Hands-on ownership of bare-metal Kubernetes or OpenShift
• Fluency with high-speed cluster fabrics (RoCE v2, InfiniBand, EVPN-VXLAN) and relevant operational discipline
• 5+ years leading multiple technical teams, including 24/7 operations
• Experience establishing SLO/SLI metrics and observability-driven improvement
• Executive-level stakeholder communication and budget ownership

Responsibilities

• Define and execute long-range strategy for AI infrastructure and platform engineering with high availability and performance
• Recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing engineering organization
• Establish ownership, accountability, and performance expectations across teams
• Provide executive-level updates on platform status, milestones, and risk
• Own the physical AI compute environment, GPU clusters, and hardware lifecycle
• Direct Kubernetes/OpenShift operations and infrastructure-as-code
• Govern network fabric and high-performance connectivity
• Lead 24/7 operations and drive incident response and change management
• Oversee GPU FinOps governance and cost optimization
• Ensure security posture and HIPAA/NIST AI RMF compliance
