Job summary

Outside The Lens in San Diego seeks a Director of Advancement to lead contributed revenue and craft compelling donor storytelling. This senior role partners with the Executive Director, leadership team, and Board to grow support across individuals, foundations, corporations, and government sources.

You’ll shape OTL’s communications, build a strong fundraising pipeline, supervise a communications designer and grants writer, and implement CRM and reporting systems.

Qualifications

• Approximately 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit advancement or philanthropy.
• Demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, securing, and stewarding philanthropic support.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate impact into a compelling case for support.
• Strong organizational and project-management abilities with a track record of follow-through.
• Experience developing organizational communications—content strategy, emails, newsletters, or branding.
• Judgment, curiosity, discretion, and a collaborative leadership approach.

Responsibilities

• Own the annual and multi-year contributed-revenue strategy and fundraising goals.
• Cultivate and steward individual donors and major-gift prospects.
• Lead fundraising across foundations, corporations, government sources, and sponsorships.
• Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospective donors and funders.
• Use data and forecasting to identify opportunities and guide strategy.
• Partner with leadership and Board to expand the community of supporters.
