Job summary

Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont seeks a dynamic Vice President of Advancement to lead fundraising strategy, major gifts, and donor engagement. You will guide a team of four direct reports and 12 staff, partner with senior leadership, and expand partnerships with employers and donors to support career-driven education.

The role requires a proven track record in fundraising leadership, excellent relationship-building, and hands-on leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Ten or more years of progressive fundraising experience with major gifts.
• Strong budget management and philanthropy operations experience.
• Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
• Experience managing staff in a collaborative environment.
• Familiarity with advancement CRM systems and data-driven fundraising.
• Hands-on leadership style with energy and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive advancement strategy aligned with institutional priorities.
• Personally manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and solicit at high levels.
• Set fundraising goals, track metrics, and report to President and Board.
• Identify corporate and foundation funding opportunities and coordinate proposals.
• Lead donor stewardship programs and alumni engagement initiatives.
• Represent the college publicly and build partnerships with stakeholders.
• Oversee budget, gift processing, and compliance for charitable activities.
• mentor and develop the advancement team and manage operations.
