Job summary

Mercer, a Marsh business, seeks a Senior Leader, Government Health Actuary to guide the Health Actuaries team and deliver client-ready actuarial work on time and on budget. Lead multi-disciplinary teams across Medicaid projects, ensuring compliance and actuarial soundness.

You will mentor senior and junior staff, manage client engagements, and contribute to strategic growth while leveraging cross-functional Mercer resources and tools.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree.
• Actuarial credentials (ASA or FSA, MAAA) strongly preferred.
• 15+ years minimum health actuarial experience, with 10+ Medicaid actuarial experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of actuaries, actuarial and data analysts, clinicians and health policy consultants supporting Medicaid projects.
• Define and manage project scope with clients, ensuring rate structures align with regulations and standards.
• Oversee all aspects of actuarial rate development and client guidance throughout project life cycle.
• Collaborate with clients to finalise actuarial work and explain rate impacts.
• Design innovative solutions leveraging Mercer resources across teams.
• Sign rate certification letters and present actuarial opinions.
• Mentor and develop actuarial staff and support growth of the team.
• Support new business pursuits and competitive bids.
