Job summary

Blue Owl Capital, Chicago-based, is seeking an accomplished Chief Accounting Officer to lead accounting and financial reporting for its REIT. You will partner with executive management and the Board to ensure best-in-class reporting, compliance, and scalable processes.

The role requires deep GAAP expertise, extensive public REIT experience, and a track record of building high-performing teams while guiding complex transactions and internal controls.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including significant real estate accounting exposure.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP and historical cost accounting for real estate investments and operations.
• Deep understanding of SEC reporting requirements (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) and disclosures.
• Experience leading SOX compliance programs and maintaining effective ICFR.
• Proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting systems like Workiva.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with timely/accurate reporting.
• Serve as technical accounting expert for GAAP real estate transactions and investments.
• Evaluate complex transactions (acquisitions, dispositions, leases, financing, development) for reporting implications.
• Oversee real estate investment structures, debt documents, and partnerships for reporting.
• Manage external auditors, legal counsel, and advisors on reporting matters.
• Prepare financial analyses and reports for executive leadership and the Board.
• Collaborate with asset management, investments, and operations on portfolio activity.
