Job summary

Blue Owl Capital Inc. in Chicago seeks a skilled accounting professional to support SEC reporting for non-traded REITs, coordinating with accounting teams, fund administrators, and property managers to deliver timely, accurate reporting. You will prepare 10-K/10-Q/8-K materials, perform consolidations, and assist auditors.

The role emphasizes GAAP knowledge, Workiva usage, and REIT rules. A bachelor’s degree is required; CPA preferred.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of accounting experience; exposure to real estate private equity, non-traded REITs or public REITs.
  • SEC reporting experience including Form 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K and other transactional offerings.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with an emphasis on U.S. GAAP for real estate.
  • Experience with SEC reporting software such as Workiva a plus.
  • Knowledge of REIT rules and tax implications a plus.
  • Experience working with third-party fund administrators a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; CPA preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of consolidated financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A for 10-Q/10-K filings in Workiva.
  • Prepare and update documents and underlying support for each reporting period.
  • Review financial statement support and schedules provided by fund administrator/property manager for accuracy.
  • Assist with addressing comments from senior management and external parties.
  • Prepare tie-outs to supporting documentation and assist with 8-K and Section 16 filings.
  • Contribute to technical accounting research and consolidation analyses.
  • Assist NAV financial close as needed and support external auditors during audits.
  • Support internal reporting for management company and audit committee materials.
  • Ensure controls documentation and support SOX testing; perform ad-hoc analyses as needed.

Job Description This position will support the SEC reporting process for non‑traded REITs in accordance with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, including collaboration with the REIT accounting teams, the third‑party fund administrator, and property managers, to ensure supporting documentation is prepared timely and accurately to streamline the SEC reporting process.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A for our 10Q and 10K reports filed with the SEC in Workiva
  • Prepare and update the document and underlying support for each reporting period
  • Review of financial statement support and other supporting schedules provided by fund administrator and/or property manager for completeness and accuracy
  • Assist with organizing and addressing comments received from senior management and external parties
  • Preparation of tie‑outs to supporting documentation
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of 8K and Section 16 SEC filings in Workiva
  • Assist with technical accounting research, including consolidation analyses, the adoption of new accounting and reporting disclosure requirements, and the preparation of memos
  • Assist with NAV financial close, as needed
  • Support the external auditors during audits and interim reviews, including providing supporting documentation and answering financial reporting questions
  • Assist with preparation of internal reporting, including management company reporting and audit committee and board materials
  • Ensure financial reporting controls are followed and documented, and support external SOX testing team by providing support and answering questions
  • Provide additional ad‑hoc financial reporting and accounting research, and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience; exposure to real estate private equity, non‑traded REITs or public REITs a plus, with backgrounds in public accounting and/or industry.
  • SEC reporting experience including Form 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K and other transactional offerings.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with an emphasis on U.S. GAAP, including historical cost and fair value basis of accounting for real estate.
  • Experience with SEC reporting software such as Workiva a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of REIT rules and tax implications a plus but not required.
  • Experience working with third‑party fund administrators a plus but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • CPA Preferred, not required.

It is expected that the base annual salary range for this Chicago based position will be $110,000 - $135,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
