Position Summary
The Director of Marketing and Catering strengthens the Chick-fil-A brand inside the restaurant and throughout the local community while generating measurable restaurant and catering sales growth. This leader develops and executes the restaurant's local marketing strategy, builds community and business relationships, leads campaigns and events, oversees digital and guest engagement, and develops catering opportunities from prospecting through follow‑up and repeat business.
The role requires a leader who can translate the Operator's vision, goals, and objectives into clear plans, consistent execution, and measurable results. The Director is highly relational, self‑directed, organized, results‑oriented, and prepared to represent Chick‑fil‑A professionally throughout the community.
Primary Areas of Responsibility
Marketing Strategy and Restaurant Growth
- Partner with the Operator and senior leadership to create and maintain an annual local marketing plan aligned with restaurant goals.
- Use sales trends, customer feedback, traffic patterns, and campaign results to identify growth opportunities and recommend priorities.
- Build practical campaign plans with clear audiences, timelines, budgets, ownership, and measures of success.
- Coordinate marketing activity with restaurant operations so promotions can be executed consistently and with an excellent guest experience.
Community Relationships and Local Store Marketing
- Develop lasting relationships with schools, churches, nonprofits, neighborhood organizations, sports programs, and local businesses.
- Create a focused community engagement plan, including giving, donations, school programs, fundraising opportunities, food distributions, and sampling.
- Use Be Our Guest Cards and other approved resources strategically to welcome prospective guests, strengthen relationships, and encourage return visits.
- Represent the restaurant at community meetings, partnership conversations, and off‑site activities with warmth, professionalism, and sound judgment.
Events Promotions and Activations
- Plan and lead in‑restaurant and community events that support restaurant goals, seasonal priorities, and meaningful guest engagement.
- Manage each activation from concept through execution, including communication, staffing coordination, materials, follow‑up, and performance review.
- Lead with food through approved sampling, product education, and seasonal menu promotions.
- Use the Chick‑fil‑A Cow strategically and ensure mascot appearances are purposeful, safe, and aligned with brand standards.
Digital Marketing and Customer Engagement
- Manage local digital and social media activity through Chick‑fil‑A‑approved tools and in accordance with brand standards.
- Use Spotlight and other approved platforms to support events, customer communication, and local campaigns.
- Maintain an accurate, timely content calendar and coordinate campaign messaging across relevant customer touchpoints.
- Monitor engagement, guest feedback, and campaign performance; respond or upscale concerns appropriately and adjust plans based on results.
Brand Stewardship
- Protect the Chick‑fil‑A brand across written communication, visuals, events, partnerships, promotions, and community representation.
- Ensure local materials and activities follow Chick‑fil‑A standards and use approved resources.
- Maintain a customer‑first mindset and help identify practical solutions to guest pain points across sales channels.
- Model hospitality, discretion, reliability, and good judgment in every internal and external interaction.
Catering Sales and Business Development
- Own the restaurant's catering sales plan and build a healthy pipeline of prospective, active, and repeat customers.
- Prospect for new business through outreach, networking, referrals, community relationships, and targeted follow‑up.
- Develop relationships with offices, schools, healthcare organizations, churches, event planners, sports organizations, and other local groups with recurring catering needs.
- Guide customers toward menu and service options that fit their occasion, budget, timing, and guest count, then follow through until the order is confirmed.
- Track leads, proposals, conversion, average order value, repeat business, and sales results; use the data to improve the approach.
Catering Customer Experience and Operations
- Serve as a knowledgeable, responsive point of contact for catering customers before, during, and after each order.
- Coordinate closely with restaurant leaders and Team Members to confirm order details, production timing, packaging, delivery or pickup expectations, and special instructions.
- Verify that catering orders are accurate, complete, on time, and presented according to Chick‑fil‑A standards.
- Follow up after significant orders, resolve concerns promptly, gather feedback, and invite appropriate repeat business.
- Help maintain catering systems, supplies, menus, lead records, and service standards that support reliable execution.
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead marketing and catering work with clear priorities, dependable communication, and personal accountability.
- Train and equip leaders and Team Members to support events, promotions, catering orders, and community activities effectively.
- Delegate projects with clear expectations and follow up to ensure quality, timeliness, and learning.
- Participate as an active member of the restaurant leadership team and contribute to broader restaurant goals and problem‑solving.
- Build systems that can be repeated and sustained rather than relying on one‑time effort.

- Growth in restaurant sales and transactions attributable to local marketing priorities.
- Growth in catering sales, qualified leads, conversion, average order value, and repeat business.

Qualifications and Characteristics
- Proven experience in marketing, community relations, sales, hospitality, catering, business development, or a related field; leadership experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, identify opportunities, make persuasive recommendations, and follow through consistently.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to protect confidential or sensitive information.
- Strong planning and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple deadlines and coordinate across teams.
- Comfort using sales and marketing data to set priorities, evaluate results, and improve performance.

Position Requirements
- Work primarily on‑site at the restaurant and in the surrounding community, with local travel as needed.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation for community outreach, catering sales, events, and related responsibilities.
- Work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, and Saturdays based on catering orders, events, and restaurant needs. Chick‑fil‑A restaurants are closed on Sundays.
- Use a computer, smartphone, and restaurant‑approved business systems effectively.
