Job summary

Business Sweden in Chicago is seeking an Associate Accountant to join our team and support accounting, financial reporting, and client services across industries. You will prepare financial statements, record journal entries, manage AP/AR, and assist with payroll and tax registrations.

The role requires collaboration with multiple clients, strong attention to detail, and proactive communication. A bachelor’s degree in accounting and 0–3 years of experience, along with GAAP knowledge and MS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 0-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience supporting multiple clients, entities, or business units is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience working with QuickBooks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and reports by gathering and analyzing information from clients' general ledger systems.
• Prepare and record journal entries while maintaining accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Manage accounts payable activities, including expense accruals, payment processing, and disbursements.
• Manage accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, revenue recognition, customer payments, and reconciliations.
• Perform payroll tax and sales tax registrations and supporting compliance requirements.
• Complete cash and bank reconciliations and assist with management reporting and forecasting.
• Research accounting and financial questions from clients and support special projects.
