Bgclawco is seeking a part-time program assistant for the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County. You will support homework help, coordinate Indiana Kids activities, and help deliver after-school programming with a positive, engaging approach.

You will greet and supervise youth, collect attendance in MyClubHub, respond to inquiries, and collaborate with staff, volunteers, and families to maintain a safe, motivating Club experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in customer service (computers, software, phone, and data management) required.
  • Experience in youth development, education, or recreation (coaching).
  • Strong communication with families, staff, volunteers, and supporters— in person, over the phone, and through email.
  • Proficient with Word and Excel; maintain organized electronic files.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • Able to bend and lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Full Job Description:
General Responsibilities

Manage the homework program by assisting youth daily during After School. Execute the Indiana Kids program by coordinating education, volunteering, and career exploration opportunities. Support diverse after-school programming through positive, engaging interactions with members and families. Contribute to planning and implementing core program activities and events. Build rapport and effectively guide K–12 youth in a dynamic environment. Collaborate with staff, volunteers, interns, donors, and families to maintain a safe, supportive, and academically motivating Club experience.

  • Greet and welcome members as they arrive at the Club. Ensure they sign in following policy.
  • Enter attendance into MyClubHub System.
  • Assist in supervising Club members in accordance with Boys & Girls Club policies and procedures.
  • Support a safe, positive Club environment by following all safety, security, and emergency procedures.
  • Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email.
  • Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls.
  • Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as photocopying, sorting, filing, and data entry.
  • Act as main point of contact for communications, as needed, which may include incident/injury reporting to parents/guardians.
  • Ensure common areas are tidy and presentable.
  • Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in customer service experience (computers, software, phone, and data
    management) required
  • Experience in youth development, education, or recreation (coaching)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with families, staff, volunteers, and Club supporters—
    in person, over the phone, and through email
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to maintain organized electronic files
  • Ability to adjust to a fast pace of work, think on your feet, and use common sense
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to watch and listen to youth activities
  • Ability to move easily across a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces
  • Ability to bend and lift up to 25 pounds
