Job summary

Cayuga Health is seeking a CHESS Nursing Assistant to provide flexible nursing support across acute and skilled settings as part of a specialized Float Pool. The role enhances competency across areas through the PAT and offers growth opportunities with competency-based compensation.

Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center (101 Dates Drive, Ithaca) and Schuyler Hospital, with variable shifts. Requires NYS CNA, BLS, and 2+ years acute care experience; opportunity to advance within Cayuga Health.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current NYS CNA certification at hire or within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of two years acute care experience at Cayuga Medical Center.
• Ability to work across multiple patient care environments and maintain CHESS competencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide flexible nursing assistant support across Med/Surg, SSSU, Behavioral Services, ICU, Maternal Child Health/OB, and skilled nursing settings based on competency.
• Obtain and document vital signs and intake/output; promptly communicate changes to RN/clinical team.
• Perform approved technical functions (phlebotomy, ECGs, telemetry, AvaSure, transfer center coordination, etc.).
• Provide sterile field/instrumentation support as OB Scrub Tech when trained.
• Reinforce patient care, safety, and post-operative instructions and maintain CHESS competencies.
