Job summary

Aerotek in Romeoville, IL is seeking a Cherry Picker Operator to safely move finished products to the packaging area and support accurate order fulfillment. You will use cherry pickers, stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks following MO instructions and labeling requirements. Responsibilities include verifying parts against MO documents, labeling to specifications, packing to standard quantities, and recording inventory with SAP and RF scanners.

Cherry Picker Operator

This role focuses on safely operating warehouse equipment to move finished products into the packaging area and support efficient order fulfillment. You will handle materials in accordance with Manufacturing Order (MO) instructions, ensure accurate labeling and packaging, and help maintain a clean, organized, and damage-free warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate cherry picker, stand-up forklift, reach truck, and pallet jack to move finished products to the packaging area in accordance with Manufacturing Order (MO) instructions.
• Check parts against MO documents to confirm the correct product, quantities, and completion of all required processes.
• Label each product according to product specifications and customer requirements, ensuring accuracy and legibility.
• Package products in predetermined quantities and boxes, following established packaging standards and procedures.
• Label each box on the outside with content type and quantity, and palletize boxes with labels visible for easy identification.
• Handle parts carefully and safeguard machined surfaces to prevent damage during movement, packing, and storage.
• Perform heavy picking tasks, regularly lifting items up to 50 pounds throughout the workday.
• Use RF scanners and inventory systems, including SAP, to track, pick, and record inventory accurately.
• Support inventory control activities by counting, verifying, and organizing products in warehouse distribution areas.
• Assist with packing, shipping, and related documentation, including bills of lading, to ensure accurate order processing.
• Follow all safety procedures and warehouse guidelines while operating equipment and performing material handling tasks.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area within the assembly and packaging departments.
• Work a consistent schedule of 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and collaborate effectively with other warehouse employees.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of forklift experience, including stand-up and reach forklift operation.
• Proficiency operating cherry pickers and reach lifts in a warehouse distribution environment.
• Ability to perform heavy picking, regularly lifting up to 50 pounds throughout the day.
• Experience using inventory systems, including SAP, for tracking and managing stock.
• Skill in order picking, packing, and palletizing products for shipment.
• Familiarity with RF scanners for picking and inventory control.
• Knowledge of basic inventory control practices and warehouse distribution processes.
• Ability to work safely and follow established safety procedures while operating material handling equipment.
• Experience handling bills of lading and basic shipping documentation.
• Comfort working in an assembly and packaging environment, moving product efficiently between areas.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• No formal forklift certifications required, but prior hands‑on experience is essential.
• Experience working in clean, modern warehouse facilities.
• Ability to read and follow Manufacturing Orders (MO) and product specifications.
• Strong attention to detail in labeling, packaging, and verifying product information.
• Reliability in maintaining a consistent Monday–Friday schedule from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Comfort working as part of a team in assembly and warehouse operations.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, new warehouse building shared with other distribution operations, primarily within the assembly department moving product to packaging. You will work alongside other warehouse employees in a well-maintained facility that emphasizes safety and organization. The schedule is 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work involves regular use of forklifts, cherry pickers, reach trucks, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and inventory systems such as SAP. The environment includes active material handling, heavy lifting, and palletizing tasks. Steel-toe or safety shoes are required, and a safety vest is provided as part of the standard attire.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Romeoville, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
