Yoh Life Sciences in Houston or Austin, TX is seeking a Chemometrician - Analytical Chemist to join our team. This role blends spectroscopy, chemometrics, and scientific programming to develop predictive models and data workflows.

You will work with NIR and Raman spectroscopy, design calibration datasets, build models, and contribute to MATLAB/Python SDKs used by the chemometrics group. Travel approx 20–25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Familiarity with instrumental analysis and spectroscopic experimental methods, such as NIR and/or Raman spectroscopy.
• Working knowledge of chemometric modeling concepts and data analysis techniques.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or MATLAB for scientific or data analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams.
• Ability to travel approximately 20-25%.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute laboratory experiments specifically aimed at generating calibration and validation datasets for chemometric model development.
• Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation, including NIR and Raman spectroscopy systems.
• Apply sound sampling strategies, Design of Experiments (DoE), and quality control practices to ensure data quality and representativeness.
• Construct predictive models that translate spectral data into usable information for customers.
• Develop and improve scientific software supporting MATLAB and Python Software Development Kits (SDKs) used by the chemometrics team.
• Develop applications and tools used to evaluate chemometric models prior to deployment to field analyzers.
• Collaborate across scientific, technical, and software-focused teams to translate complex analytical concepts into practical solutions.
• Apply software development best practices, including version control, testing, and documentation.
