Job summary

Cardinal Health, Inc. in Fresno is seeking a Patient Scheduler to coordinate infusion appointments, align patient visits with MD/NP schedules, and minimize wait times by communicating clearly with patients and care teams.

You will manage infusion cycles in OncoEMR, complete necessary paperwork, notify patients of changes, and support front desk and nursing staff. This is a Monday–Friday 8-hour shift with a wage range of $23.00–$28.82 per hour.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in medical scheduling preferred
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience preferred

What Patient Scheduler contributes to Cardinal Health

Practice Operations Management oversees the business and administrative operations of a medical practice. Patient Schedulers are responsible for booking and managing appointments for patients at a clinic, ensuring they see the right doctor at the appropriate time by coordinating schedules and minimizing wait times

Schedule

8-hour shift, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30am - 5:30pm

Responsibilities

• Schedules all cycles of infusions and related injections in OncoEMR once authorizations are received.
• Coordinates infusions with M.D. /N.P. visits.
• Ensures all pertinent paperwork regarding chemotherapy scheduling is completed daily.
• Reviews each patient on the schedule every day to ensure treatment and follow-up appointments are scheduled, ensuring patient needs are met.
• Facilitates effective communication and coordination with patient caregiver, healthcare professionals both internal and external, and alternative patient settings as necessary when scheduling needs to be adjusted to accommodate patient/physician need.
• Ensures patients are contacted prior to appointments to inform them of treatment schedule changes, as needed and when appropriate.
• Properly coordinates appointments with front desk reception, when patient requires physician follow-up and/or RN treatment appointment.
• Ensures patient education, for both oral and IV chemotherapy, is completed and documented with patients and families.
• Provides effective clerical support to other departments as requested.
• Effectively completes other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in medical background or scheduling, preferred
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience, preferred
