Job summary

Halifax Health ExpressCare is seeking a Charge Medical Technologist in Chemistry to deliver timely, accurate laboratory analyses across age groups from newborn to geriatric. You will work with chemistry sections, ensure quality control, and communicate critical results to nursing staff and physicians.

The role requires a Florida technologist license, ASCP or equivalent certification, and a hospital-based internship reflecting strong clinical chemistry competencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical technology or related laboratory science from an accredited institution.
• Hospital based, formal internship required.
• State of Florida Technologist License; Certification with American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Functions as supervisor of the shift in the absence of the supervisor for the smooth functioning of the shift.
• Performs routine procedures and techniques on newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in chemistry, microbiology, hematology, blood bank or other areas of the laboratory.
• Performs quality control with each test and/or instrument to check accuracy and reproducibility.
• Verifies critical results and documents notification to nurse or physician.
• Maintains inventory and prepares reagents; assists in training and supervising staff.
