Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field from an accredited institution; internship required.
• State licensure and ASCP certification (or equivalent) as a clinical technologist.
• Orientation period of 4-6 weeks completed successfully.

Responsibilities

• Performs chemistry analyses and other clinical laboratory procedures for diverse patient groups.
• Maintains quality control on each test/instrument for accuracy and reproducibility.
• Reviews results and reports phoned statistics and panic values.
• Performs instrument calibration and troubleshooting; maintains a clean, hazard-free environment.
• Collects and processes specimens, including prep for reference laboratories.
• Trains or supervises new staff and may direct daily activities in absence of supervisor.
• Performs clerical duties and communicates reports to medical staff.
• Engages in continuing education and participates in laboratory meetings.
