Job summary

Volunteer State Community College is seeking an Instructor of Chemistry for a 9/10 month term. You will deliver quality instruction across online, on-campus, hybrid formats and participate in evaluating student learning and program outcomes.

The role includes teaching loads, office hours, and active involvement in curriculum development, accreditation processes, and college service. A master’s degree in the field is required or a Master’s with 18 graduate hours.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in the teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution or a Master’s degree plus 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
• Collegiate-level teaching experience preferred.
• Experience delivering instruction in multiple formats (in-person, online, hybrid).

Responsibilities

• Teach 15 semester credit hours and hold additional in-person/virtual office hours as defined by policy.
• Teach 28–32 semester credit hours across Fall and Spring semesters.
• Deliver instruction in evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment, and distance-based courses.
• Contribute to program and curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation efforts as applicable.
• Complete required trainings and maintain attendance/grade records; participate in college service and mentoring.
• Support student recruitment and retention and engage in lifelong learning.
