Volunteer State Community College seeks an Instructor of Chemistry to deliver high-quality instruction across in-person, online, and hybrid formats. The role includes evaluating student learning, contributing to program outcomes, and participating in college service and professional development.

The position requires a Master’s degree in the teaching discipline (or Master’s plus 18 graduate hours) and collegiate teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in the teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution or a Master’s degree plus 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
• Collegiate-level teaching experience preferred.
• Ability to deliver instruction in multiple formats (in-person, online, hybrid).

Responsibilities

• Teach 15 semester credit hours per term and conduct additional in-person/virtual office hours.
• Teach a total of 28–32 semester credit hours across Fall and Spring.
• Provide effective instruction and create a supportive learning environment.
• Participate in program and curriculum development and accreditation activities.
• Attend required trainings and submit attendance, grades, and reports timely.
• Contribute to student recruitment, retention, advising, and mentorship.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain subject-matter expertise.
