Job summary

Amarillo College seeks a Faculty - Chemistry to deliver high-quality, learner-centered chemistry instruction across General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and related courses in classroom, laboratory, technology-supported, and online environments.

The role requires a Master’s in Chemistry (or related field) with 18 graduate hours in Chemistry; Doctorate preferred. Candidates should have higher education teaching experience, including online instruction, and a commitment to student success.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Chemistry or closely related discipline and at least 18 graduate hours in Chemistry.
• Preferred: Doctorate in Chemistry or closely related discipline.
• Experience teaching in higher education and in online/technology-supported environments.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and deliver organized chemistry instruction in classroom, lab, hybrid, and online formats.
• Develop and maintain curricula and syllabi aligned with approved catalog descriptions.
• Provide classroom and online instruction; supervise student projects; assist with coursework, research, and internships.
• Teach assigned chemistry courses and select appropriate instructional materials and lab equipment.
• Maintain a safe laboratory environment and follow safety procedures for handling chemicals.
• Participate in faculty development, assessments of student learning, and program initiatives.
• Contribute to the college’s mission of transforming the community through learning and engagement.
