Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises Employment Services is seeking five Student Research Assistants to join the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department under the supervision of Dr. S. Chantal E.

Stieber, Principal Investigator. These positions involve conducting scientific experiments to study C-F activation with first-row transition metals, synthesizing ligands and complexes, and using techniques such as NMR, IR, EPR, X-ray crystallography, and UV-vis spectroscopy.

Qualifications

• Cal Poly Pomona student with general chemistry background (CHM 1210 or equivalent).
• Ability to perform chemical experiments and synthesize ligands and complexes.
• Experience with spectroscopy or related techniques is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform scientific experiments to study C-F activation with first-row transition metals.
• Synthesize ligands and complexes using organic and inorganic methods.
• Characterize ligands and complexes with NMR, IR, EPR, X-ray crystallography, and UV-vis spectroscopy.
• Search literature, write research reports, and present findings; follow lab safety and documentation.
