Contra Costa Community College District invites applications for an adjunct chemistry instructor at Diablo Valley College for Fall 2026. The department D3540 - Chemistry seeks a qualified part-time faculty member to deliver instruction in chemistry courses, including CHEM-108, with emphasis on equity and student success.

Minimum qualifications include a master's degree in chemistry or an equivalent combination; California CC Instructor Credential is acceptable, with equivalency petition

• Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work.
• Meeting with students outside of class.
• Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
• Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
• Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
• Maintaining accurate academic records.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience

The applicant must possess one of the following qualifications (earned degrees must be from an accredited college/university):

EDUCATION:

Master's degree (or higher) in chemistry; OR Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biochemistry AND Master's degree (or higher) in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry ; OR I have a California Community College Instructor Credential authorizing full-time instruction in chemistry; OR I do not meet the minimum qualifications as stated above and have applied for equivalency.
