Bostik, a leading global adhesive specialist, provides lamination adhesives for flexible packaging used in food, medical, and industrial applications. Their adhesives enhance the performance of multilayered packaging films by providing strong bonding, added functionality, and improved conversation efficiency.
We are seeking a Chemist or Chemical Engineer to work on innovation, product development, and optimization of our lamination adhesives product range in North America.
Organization
- Reports to Sr Research Scientist AP&C Flexible Laminating
Safety
- Take responsibility for personal safety in lab operations. Make a commitment to safe work practices.
- Begin working on departmental safety initiatives, such as observations and assisting in development of SOPs.
- Operate in compliance with site safety policies, including material handling and waste disposal.
- Actively participate in department safety initiatives and initiate improvements.
How
- Master’s degree in chemistry or chemical engineering, or a bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years’ experience in polymer chemistry, preferably in the adhesive industry.
- Knowledge and/or experience in designing polyurethane, polyester, and acrylic polymers, preferably for lamination adhesives in flexible food packaging.
- Solid understanding of adhesion theory and reaction kinetics, especially related to polyurethane chemistry and polyester.
- Ability to organize and analyze data to explain conclusions and outcomes internally and to stakeholders and supervisors.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Design of Experiment techniques.
- Ownership of equipment and processes used in the work group, applying well-defined methodologies.
- Ability to set up new research equipment, plan, and execute experimental programs.
- Learns product properties and technology in the area of responsibility.
- Good understanding of statistical methods and analysis.

- Apply scientific principles to development projects.

- Solve problems under guidance of senior research scientist, meeting timing requirements.
- Organize and analyze data to explain conclusions and outcomes internally and to the supervisor.

- Review previous approaches to solve problems efficiently, avoiding re-invention, and connect with the global R&D team for support and information.
