Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Gas and Chemical Systems Section Leader to head a ~10‑person engineering team and drive safety, reliability, and process improvements for hazardous materials handling.

You will coordinate with Fab Engineering, operations, and vendors to plan, construct, start up, and commission new equipment, while maintaining compliance with PSM/RMP and other standards. This onsite role offers strong growth and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years' experience operating gas/chemical supply systems.
• Experience leading teams and driving safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical ownership for chemical systems and safety standards.

Position Summary

The Gas and Chemical Systems (GCS) Chemical Engineering Section Leader (SL) role is focused on leading an engineering team that comprehensively owns, maintains, supports, and improves specialty and bulk chemical operations at Samsung. This role is also responsible for supporting the planning, construction, startup and commissioning of new equipment. As a part of the Chemical Systems Team, you will provide support by interacting with the on-site operations and maintenance team for HPM (Hazardous Process Material) Chemical, Gas, and Slurry activities as required.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• ChemicalSystemsEngineerTRwillleadanddirectmanageasmallteamof~10engineers.


• Leadandparticipateinsafetyinitiatives,programs,andactivitiestodriveworldclasssafetyperformance.


• Providetechnicalexpertiseandownershipforchemicalsystems,safetyandqualitystandards,andimprovementsforthosesystems.Engineerwillinteractwithoperationsteams,maintenanceteams,constructionteams,andequipmentvendorstosustainandmaintainequipment.


• Supporttechnicaltroubleshootingofemergentequipmentissues.


• Ensurecompliancetoallregulatorycodesandstandardsapplicabletoequipmentset(includingPSM/RMP).


• Workwithmaintenanceteamstoplanandexecutenon-standardequipmentmaintenancetoaddressfailuresorequipmentimprovements.


• CommunicateandcoordinatewithFabEngineeringgroupstoprovidetechnicalsupport,supplyissueresolution,andcollaborationforimprovedsafety,quality,andsystemreliability.


• Supportallaspectsofcapacityplanningandcapacityincreaseprojectsinvolvingthedemolitionandinstallationofnewequipmentandassociatedinfrastructure.


• Effectivelymanagestrategiesandprojectsrelatedtoend-of-lifeassetstoensurereliabilityandsafetytosite.


• Continuallydrivegroupculturetowardgreaterlearning,development,andoveralljobsatisfaction.

Skills and Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll need:

• BSdegreeinMechanicalorChemicalengineering,orrelatedtechnicalfield.


• Minimumof5year’sdirectoperationsexperiencerelatedtogasand/orchemicalsupplysystems.Semiconductororelectronicsfacilitysupportpreferred,withanemphasisonsafetyandhazardousprocessmaterials.


• Directleadershipandmanagementofteamsresponsiblefortheoperationandmaintenanceofchemicalequipmentispreferred.

The current base salary range for this role is between $113,500 - $151,500. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
