Job summary

Garratt-Callahan is seeking a Water Treatment Chemical Service Technician to serve the Chicago region. The role focuses on solving water problems, treating boilers and cooling towers, and performing on-site water testing at diverse industrial sites.

You will support sales of proprietary chemical blends and monitoring tech, with emphasis on customer satisfaction and expansion of the client base in Illinois.

Qualifications

• Requires a 4-year science degree in a relevant field (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Paper Science, or Water Resources).
• One-year technical sales experience or internship related to water treatment chemicals is preferred; training is provided.
• Residence in the greater Chicago area and familiarity with Illinois industrial marketplace are required.

Responsibilities

• Passivate stainless steel in industrial water systems.
• Promote inhibitors, coagulants, flocculants, biocides and related water-management products.
• Support Water Safety Programs and customer expansion efforts.
• Maintain relationships with existing customers and help onboard new ones.

Water Treatment Chemical Service Technician - Chicago, Illinois

Job Responsibilities

• Solve customers' water problems.
• Treat industrial boilers and cooling towers.
• Perform detailed water testing & analyses at industrial sites such as food processing plants, hospitals, manufacturing plants, commercial buildings, and data centers.
• Help sell Garratt-Callahan's proprietary chemical blends, equipment, and monitoring technology.
• Passivation of stainless steel in industrial water treatment systems.
• Help sell corrosion & scale inhibitors, coagulants, flocculants, biocides, bio-augmentation, feed & monitoring equipment, water management plans, reverse osmosis products.
• Help sell Water Safety Programs.
• Keep existing customers happy.
• Help bring on new industrial customers.

Requirements

You will be a successful applicant if you have a technical degree such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Paper Science, or Water Resources.

You must have a 4‑year science degree to qualify for this position. One-year technical sales experience or an internship related to water treatment chemicals is preferred, but training and mentorship will be provided. Outside industrial sales experience is a plus. You must live in the greater Chicago area and be familiar with the industrial marketplace of Illinois.
