Job summary

Bakelite is seeking a Process Project Engineer to define, plan, lead and execute key process and capital projects at our Taylorsville, MS site. You’ll collaborate with site personnel and technical resources to deliver safe, reliable processes and effective project execution.

The role requires a BS in Chemical Engineering with 5 years of PIC/CI experience, strong knowledge of process safety, ERP (SAP), and instrumentation. Expect 35–40% travel; Aveva PI and process simulation skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical Engineering with 5 years’ experience in chemical process industries as process or project engineer.
• Strong knowledge of accepted engineering practices for chemical process plant design and operation.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Knowledge of Microsoft tools incl. SharePoint.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop safe, predictable, and reliable processes.
• Apply and define standard engineering design practices.
• Participate in or lead process risk/hazard reviews.
• Participate in or lead incident review and root cause analysis.
• Participate in management of change.
• Assist in definition and execution of the capital plan.
• Define design packages and process control descriptions.
• Manage internal and external engineering services for project packages.
• Prepare cost estimates for site assets.
• Facilitate and lead project stage gate reviews.
• Obtain financial approvals for assigned projects.
