Job summary

Evonik is seeking a chemical operator to join the plant team in a role supporting the HPE-1 and SiC operations. You will handle raw material receiving, batch preparation, and final product packaging, while maintaining safe work and housekeeping standards.

The position requires basic math, ability to operate a distributed control system, and forklift certification. It includes rotating shifts and weekend work with emphasis on safety and quality control.

Qualifications

• High-school education or equivalent; vocational training or job-related course work preferred.
• Ability to understand and operate a distributed process control system, personal computer and associated software systems.
• Basic math skills and ability to manage time to meet daily plant requirements.

Responsibilities

• Calculating ratios, percentages and other math functions.
• Completing paperwork on transfers, packaging, tank wagons, etc.
• Written communication in the shift log.
• Automatic and manual charging, controlling, sampling reactions and process vessels using DCS per written instructions.
• Use DCS Control System Batch Interface to load recipes and control and troubleshoot batches.
• Recording process data on batch logs, batch records and inventory control records.
• Making process changes per procedural instructions.
• Transferring products/raw materials to and from rail cars, tanks, reactors, drums, totes, etc. to storage tanks, unloading finished products to tote bins or drums, as directed.
• Handling hazardous materials safely.
• General plant maintenance.
• Maintain housekeeping and safe work conditions.
