Job summary

H. B. Fuller in Houston, TX is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to design, optimize, troubleshoot, and improve chemical manufacturing processes for safe, efficient, reliable, and cost-effective operations.

You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and EHS to drive continuous improvement, ensure regulatory compliance, and support process scale-up and technology transfer. Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and 3–5 years of experience required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 3-5 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, refining, petrochemical, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, or related process manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting continuous process manufacturing operations preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience solving complex process and operational issues.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, and EHS teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, optimize, and troubleshoot chemical manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Analyze process performance and implement improvements to increase throughput, yield, and production capacity.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting process upsets and equipment-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including PFDs, P&IDs, operating procedures, and process calculations.
  • Support process scale-up, new product introductions, and technology transfer initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects focused on waste reduction, cost savings, energy efficiency, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including participation in PHA, HAZOP, and MOC processes.
  • Collaborate with Quality teams to investigate deviations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage and support capital and process improvement projects, including scope development, equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.
  • Utilize process data, control systems, and engineering tools to monitor performance, drive decision-making, and support long-term reliability improvements.
