Job Description
BAE Systems, one of the world's largest defense contractors and a Fortune 500 company, is hiring a Chemical Process Engineer - Facilities to support modernization and sustainment of energetic manufacturing processes at Holston Army Ammunition Plant.
This position supports the Ordnance Systems, Inc. (OSI) Business at our Kingsport, TN facility and reports onsite.
Responsibilities
- Support design and construction of projects to increase, modernize, and sustain chemical production capacity at HSAAP.
- Perform engineering analyses and technical tasks including planning, design, analysis, and engineering inputs into construction and maintenance.
- Guide strategic planning, estimating, and project scope decisions for integrating new capabilities into energetic production facilities.
- Coordinate with the Engineering Manager to prioritize projects and define technical requirements.
- Review current production processes and develop equipment or technology recommendations for project proposals.
- Provide technical oversight during installation and commissioning of equipment.
- Perform inspections of facilities, equipment, and pipelines to ensure safety and integrity.
- Support development of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Review and approve design packages from suppliers and design firms.
- Lead technical teams, manage risks, and ensure project completion within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Supervise subcontractors and oversee technical documentation and reporting.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years in chemical process industry or 6+ years relevant experience.
- Experience in project estimation, design, construction, and commissioning.
- Strong communication skills and broad engineering experience (civil, structural, process, machinery, piping, power, control systems).
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including UFC.
- Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, Inventor) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering License.
- 10+ years of experience, especially in energetics and DoD projects.
- Experience with chemical manufacturing involving acids, bases, solvents, and safety regulations.
Pay range: $91,980 - $156,330, based on qualifications and experience.
