Job summary

Placements24’s client seeks a Chemical Process Development Engineer to design, scale, and optimize chemical processes in their Welkom facility, translating bench-scale discoveries into manufacturable methods for lab and pilot plants.

Collaborate with R&D, production and engineering for technology transfer, document processes with P&IDs and SOPs, and perform techno-economic evaluations of new and existing processes.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
• 3-6 years of experience in chemical process research and development or scale-up.
• Proficiency with laboratory equipment and analytical techniques.
• Experience with chemical process modeling and simulation.
• Understanding of reaction engineering and separation technologies.
• Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments to develop and optimize chemical synthesis routes and purification methods.
• Scale up chemical processes from laboratory to pilot plant and commercial scale.
• Utilize process simulation tools to model and predict process behavior.
• Develop detailed process documentation, including P&IDs and operating procedures.

About the Role
