Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a plant operator to run process equipment safely and efficiently at our Texas facility. The role involves adjusting controls to influence speeds, quality, and yields, and recording data from tests and instruments to ensure product integrity.

You will monitor sensors, collaborate with supervisors on safety and efficiency, and perform routine quality checks. The position requires two years of relevant experience and a two-year Process Technology degree.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum two (2) years applicable experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Prefer two-year degree in Process Technology.
• Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Works under immediate supervision.
• Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Responsibilities

• Operates plant process equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Move control settings to adjust speeds, quality and yields of chemical reactions.
• Monitor recording instruments, flow meters and indicators to verify process conditions.
• Control or operate chemical processes using panel boards or semi-automatic equipment.
• Record operating data such as process conditions and instrument readings.
• Confer with technical staff to report or resolve safety, efficiency and product quality issues.
• Draw samples and conduct quality control tests to monitor processing.
• Regulate or shut down equipment during emergencies as directed by supervision.
• Start pumps to wash reactors and regulate flow of materials between vessels.
• Interpret chemical reactions from sight glasses and lab reports for process adjustments.
• Patrol areas to ensure safe conditions and compliance with rules.
