Job summary

Chemtrade is hiring a Chemical Operator to join our production team at the Hopewell, VA facility. The role involves weighing, mixing chemical ingredients, monitoring equipment, and following SOPs to ensure safe, efficient operations in a high-temperature plant environment.

The successful candidate will have 1–3 years of chemical manufacturing experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1-3 years of experience working in chemical manufacturing or production.
• Experience working with forklifts preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate experience using Microsoft programs, maintenance management systems and email.
• Aptitude for mechanics.
• Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing protective gear when necessary.
• Ability to lift 50lbs or more.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical manufacturing operations in safe and effective manner.
• Recording information, such as ingredients, weights, and temperature, and inputting into database.
• Monitor and control pressure and temperature of chemical process equipment.
• Operate plant equipment as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Handle, transport and process chemicals safely.
• Document plant processes and record production data.
• Operation of tank truck and railcar vessel opening, loading and unloading of product, operation of pumps, piping and valves.
• Troubleshooting issues with production equipment and processes.
• Plant inventory record keeping.
• Operation of the following mobile equipment: Backhoe, Trackmobile, Forklifts, and other mobile equipment.
• Daily plant upkeep and daily maintenance. Ability to perform daily housekeeping duties.
