Job summary

Chemtrade is seeking a Chemical Operator for our Colorado facility where you will support the production team in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner. You will weigh, mix, monitor equipment, and aid in process optimization while collaborating with others to improve products and procedures.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in chemical manufacturing, forklift experience, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Overtime and cross-functional work are involved in this role at a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in chemical manufacturing or manufacturing/production.
  • Experience working with forklifts preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs or more.

Responsibilities

  • Perform chemical manufacturing operations in a safe and effective manner.
  • Record information, such as ingredients, weights, and temperature, and input into database.
  • Monitor and control pressure and temperature of chemical process equipment.
  • Operate plant equipment as per SOPs.
  • Handle, transport and process chemicals safely.
  • Document plant processes and record production data.
  • Operate tank truck and railcar vessel opening, loading and unloading of product, operation of pumps, piping and valves.
  • Troubleshoot issues with production equipment and processes.
  • Plant inventory record keeping.
  • Operate the following mobile equipment: Backhoe, Trackmobile, Forklifts, and other mobile equipment.
  • Daily plant upkeep and daily maintenance.

Primary Location: Colorado, DE
Shift: Monday to Friday - 40 hours - Overtime
Reports to: Plant Manager
Compensation: $27 - $28 Per hour

The range shown reflects the targeted pay scale. Actual pay within the range depends on work location and factors such as skills, experience, and education. Specific salary details can be discussed during the hiring process. Posted compensation reflects base salary only and excludes bonuses, benefits, pension contributions, and other incentives.

About this Role and About You

This job is diverse in the mechanical ability to perform general plant operator duties. The Chemical Operator is an integral part of our production team and will be responsible for the overall chemical production process. This will include weighing, mixing chemical ingredients, monitoring equipment and the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will be attentive, knowledgeable, and have a desire to work with other production team members to develop the best processes and products.

Qualification

Knowledge

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in chemical manufacturing or manufacturing/production.
  • Experience working with forklifts preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs or more.
Competencies
  • Ability to demonstrate experience using Microsoft programs, maintenance management systems and email.
  • Aptitude for mechanics.
  • Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing protective gear when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform chemical manufacturing operations in safe and effective manner.

  • Operate plant equipment as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Handle, transport and process chemicals safely.
  • Document plant processes and record production data.
  • Operation of tank truck and railcar vessel opening, loading and unloading of product, operation of pumps, piping and valves.
  • Troubleshooting issues with production equipment and processes.
  • Plant inventory record keeping.
  • Operation of the following mobile equipment: Backhoe, Trackmobile, Forklifts, and other mobile equipment.
  • Daily plant upkeep and daily maintenance. Ability to perform daily housekeeping duties.
Working Environment
  • Chemical manufacturing plant producing Liquid Alum, ACH and PAC chemicals
  • Physical capability of performing tasks in 100 degree ambient temperatures while wearing Protective Personal Protection.
  • This job requires climbing stairs and ladders and also lifting (within OSHA guidelines).
  • This job consists of outside elements where radiant heat or cold is normal work environment, and rotating shifts.
  • Following all plant safety guidelines such as: Confined Space, Working with heights Management of Change, Hot Work and Operating Procedures
  • Must be able to work scheduled 8-hour days with intermittent 14 - 16 hour days for emergency operations/repairs.
