USALCO Savannah Plant, LLC is a major unit within the manufacturing network of a leading provider of aluminum-based component products used in water treatment, pulp and paper manufacturing, the making of catalysts for oil refining, the housing market and other sectors. The right individual will have a can-do attitude, the ability to be part of a team while operating independently, and consistently performs to very high standards.

Job Summary:

The person in this role is responsible for manufacturing chemical products while ensuring compliance with all company policies. The position requires a motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven team player who:

  • Incorporates safety and quality into every decision while performing day-to-day activities
  • Effectively communicates with Supervisor and peers
  • Can efficiently operate chemical processes and equipment to safely manufacture quality products
  • Actively seeks opportunities for process improvement and collaborates with management and peers to implement changes promptly

The employee must be positive, task-oriented, with chemical manufacturing experience and mechanical aptitude. The Chemical Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of plant processes and equipment, maintaining excellent communication with supervisors and peers, and working constructively within the team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Manufacture Aluminum Sulfate and/or Sodium Aluminate, maintaining machinery, storage tanks, and process capabilities.
  2. Document all technical information related to process operation, including batch tickets, laboratory analyses, SQA data, and shipping specifications.
  3. Oversee safe and efficient operation of assigned processes, including the transfer of hazardous chemicals.
  4. Follow all safety rules, work guidelines, and PPE requirements.
  5. Develop and implement process, equipment, and procedural improvements.
  6. Perform daily safety and housekeeping audits, quality checks, adjust formulations, assist with loading/unloading, and complete necessary paperwork.
  7. Maintain and communicate process information with other shifts.
  8. Inspect equipment daily, report issues, perform pump movements and cleaning, and ensure Lock Out/Tag Out procedures are followed.
  9. Work overtime, perform physical labor, and shift work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must comply with a drug-free and weapon-free environment
  • Ability to prioritize daily operations and pay attention to detail
  • Knowledge of chemical manufacturing and equipment
  • Dependable, flexible, and responsive to customer needs
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and mathematical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to obtain Forklift/Front End Loader License within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to learn the chemical operator role within 90 days

Education:

  • High School Diploma / GED

Experience:

  • Experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing environments
  • Prior chemical manufacturing experience
  • Forklift/Front End Loader driving experience

Essential Functions:

  • Lifting 50-75 lbs., standing for 60-70%, traversing the site, working at heights, and in confined spaces
