Job summary

IMTT is seeking an Operator to manage loading, unloading, and storage of Miscellaneous Liquids at our Bayonne facility. This role requires coordinating with customers, maintaining records, and ensuring safe operations of tanks, barges, ships, trucks, and railcars.

Responsibilities include weighing trucks, gauging tanks and vessels, and resolving mechanical issues with maintenance staff as needed. A high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and TWIC are required, with strong math and English

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials).
  • Must be able to operate manual valves.
  • Read and distinguish measurements on gauging tape and pressure gauges.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

  • Operate loading racks for Miscellaneous Liquids Department.
  • Load/unload tank trucks, railcars and marine vessels.
  • Weigh tank trucks and gauge shore tanks, railcars, and vessels.
  • Maintain communication with customers to service needs.
  • Move hazardous substances safely between tanks and transport.
  • Handle paperwork and understand product pipelines and valves.

Job description

The Operator is responsible for controlling the loading, unloading, and storage of the Miscellaneous Liquids handled at the facility. This is a USW position.ResponsibilitiesOperation of various loading racks maintained by the Miscellaneous Liquids Department.Loading and unloading of tank trucks, railcars and marine vessels used to transport miscellaneous liquids to and from the facility.Weighing of tank trucks.Gauging of shore tanks, railcars, tank trucks and marine vessels.Maintaining good communication with customers in order to best serve their needs.Investigate and attempt to resolve all mechanical problems prior to contacting maintenance / electricians.Preparation of all related paperwork.Must maintain a working knowledge and understanding of all product pipelines, valves, manifolds, and jumpers.Must safely and efficiently move hazardous substances into, out of and between tanks, barges, ships, trucks, and railcars without harm to the environment, facility or personnel.Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentValid driver’s license.TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials)Must be able to operate manual valvesMust be able to properly distinguish measurements and increments on a gauging tape and pressure gauges.Skills and AbilitiesClear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.Knowledge of basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions).Hours of WorkThis is a non-exempt, hourly position. Employees are scheduled to work assigned shifts within a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
