Job Description We are seeking a Chemical Mix Technician whose primary function is to process crude energetic material by recrystallization. In addition to recrystallization, the employee will conduct analyses of energetic material through various analytical methods. The technician is responsible for keeping the production floor supplied through the handling and transferring of energetic material to/from production rooms that include outdoor travel to/from outdoor storage locations. Detailed and accurate documentation is necessary to satisfy both customer specifications and government regulations.

Schedule: 4/10 Mon-Thurs

Location: Miamisburg, OH

What you’ll do Set up and maintain laboratory equipment, instrumentation and labware/glassware. Clean and maintain laboratory equipment. Manufacture energetic material by recrystallization method. This method requires mixing hazardous chemicals and explosive powders in a hands‑on, controlled laboratory setting. Explosive powder processes involve simultaneous operation of multiple pieces of laboratory equipment, including kettles, boilers, process chilled loops, vacuum equipment, air driven valves, etc. at specified ranges. Various process preparation includes handling explosive and hazardous materials. Package hazardous and energetic waste in accordance with DoD approved standards. Perform analyses on energetic material samples with use of surface area analyzer, particle sizer, vacuum equipment, etc. Draw samples that create an accurate representation of batches to be analyzed; Compile and interpret results on tests and analyses. Report results to supervisor; Transfer energetic material to different rooms and locations. As a large quantity generator, the technician will be responsible for coordination of explosive waste pickup every 90 days through an exterior vendor. Frequent updates and recertification required on shipping profiles; Ability to perform any other job related task assigned by your supervisor/manager.

What you need Requires a high school diploma or GED (Associate’s degree preferred); A minimum of 6 months of industrial experience or similar training. Experience in a laboratory environment is a plus; Excellent math skills are required; Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Must be able to calculate averages, uses sums and formulas in Excel; Must have excellent time management skills; Demonstrated ability to follow written procedures with precision and maintain accurate production documentation. Must be able to effectively communicate and engage with all levels of the organization verbally and in writing; Detail oriented with proven ability to learn new processes and systems; Ability to cross train on other programs in the facility; Please note that due to the requirements from the Department of Energy, U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Some bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, mild lifting of 10 pounds or less. Ability to wear required PPE and work safely around chemicals and energetic materials. Some employees are required to intermittently lift up to 50 pounds.
