Job summary

RASIRC in San Diego is seeking a Chemical Engineering Intern to support the R&D team in developing and improving liquid generated gas reactants for semiconductor processes. You will work alongside experienced engineers in a fast-paced environment with access to chemical, mechanical, and electromechanical engineering disciplines.

• Currently pursuing or have obtained a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a hands-on environment.
• Technical Interest in semiconductor equipment, chemical processes, vapor delivery, or related technologies.
• Ability to follow detailed safety procedures; comfort working around lab equipment and chemical systems.
• Experience or coursework in heat transfer, mass transfer, or fluid systems is beneficial.
• Familiarity with software programming and automation systems is a plus; PLC programming/controls/data acquisition experience beneficial.

• Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data using spreadsheets, statistical tools, or engineering software.
• Develop test plans, procedures, and reports.
• Assist with troubleshooting system issues, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, test records, and project documentation.
• Follow all laboratory, chemical-handling, environmental, health, and safety procedures.

Position Overview:

The Chemical Engineering Intern will support the R&D team in developing and improving current and next-generation products. This position offers hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced semiconductor technology environment, with exposure to chemical, mechanical, and electromechanical engineering disciplines and various analytical methods. Working alongside experienced engineers and scientists, the intern will contribute to meaningful projects that advance product development and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Under supervision, the intern will:

• Support the research, design, and development of chemical delivery systems for semiconductor manufacturing applications.
• Assist with laboratory experiments, prototype development, and performance testing.
• Assist in the design and construction of test manifolds using pumps, valves, regulators, filters, tubing, fittings, sensors, and other system components.
• Assist with selecting materials of construction suitable for corrosive, hazardous, and high-purity chemicals.

• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and wear required cleanroom garb when needed.
• Ability to work in a Class 1000 or better cleanroom (training provided).
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) required.
