Safety-Kleen Systems Wichita is offering a Summer 2027 Chemical Engineer Intern position based at our Wichita, KS facility. This in-person internship provides hands-on experience supporting projects across environmental, energy, and industrial services.

Start dates are May 17th or May 24th, 2027, with the program running through August. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals, gain exposure to refinery equipment modeling, CAD drawing updates, and the Mechanical Integrity Program.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at an accredited college or university.
• Strong interest in learning about the environmental services industry.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in CAD or similar software for updating and modifying engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of P&IDs and piping ISOs preferred.

Responsabilités

• Ensuring Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Mechanical Integrity Program.
• Use modeling platform to work on models of refinery equipment and operations.
• Use CAD program to revise and update drawings.
• Assist site engineer with project scoping and design for fixed and rotating equipment.
• Assist with troubleshooting multi-disciplinary problems with the refinery units.
• Gain exposure to Process Safety Management (PSM) principles, including PHA, MOCs, Operating Procedures, Incident Investigation, and other elements of PSM.
