Job summary

Signature Science, LLC seeks a Chemical Engineer to lead the scale-up of energetic material synthesis from lab to production. You will design safe, robust processes and develop P&IDs, SOPs, and safety reviews while collaborating with research chemists to translate laboratory procedures into scalable manufacturing.

The role requires a strong foundation in chemical engineering, expertise in reactor types, optimization, and industrial automation.

Qualifications

• Solid grounding in chemical engineering principles including mass transfer, heat transfer, kinetics, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with multiple reactor types and their operational trade-offs.
• Familiarity with industrial automation software used for control and data acquisition.
• Background in data-driven process optimization and statistical analyses.

Responsibilities

• Lead scale-up activities for energetic material synthesis from lab to pilot and production scale.
• Design and optimize processes for safe, cost-effective production of energetic materials.
• Develop P&IDs, equipment specs, and SOPs for manufacturing operations.
• Conduct optimization studies to maximize yield and minimize waste.
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure continuous efficiency.
• Collaborate with research chemists to translate lab procedures to scale.
• Create and review process design and safety documentation.
• Develop PLC control code and model processes with ASPEN-like tools.
• Perform risk assessments and enforce safety measures for scaled operations.
• Maintain safety documentation, records, and incident reporting.
