The Chemical Engineer develops and designs equipment for manufacturing chemical and related products, utilizing principles and technology of chemistry, physics, mathematics, and engineering, and employing computer technology to optimize all phases of research and production.
This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibility. It may remotely supervise projects and key personnel.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, material science or chemistry from a four‑year college or technical school; or a degree and one year related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills: Must be proficient with MS Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. Also require working knowledge of Adobe PDF documents and CAD software package.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints; communicate technical subject matters both written and oral; make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to management.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory; work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; handle nonverbal symbolism such as formulas, scientific equations, and graphs; synthesize technical requirements from multiple sources into reports, specifications, procedures, etc.
Physical Demands: Use hands and fingers; sit, stand, walk; occasionally squat, kneel, or climb; lift and move up to 25 pounds; possess close and distance vision and the ability to focus.
Work Environment: Office environment is generally quiet with controlled temperature; production facility environment may be high noise requiring hearing protection and eye protection, subject to extremes of heat and cold, and may involve direct exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
